Tetanus is an acute, sometimes fatal, disease of the central nervous system, caused by the toxin of the tetanus bacterium. People get tetanus through an infected open wound If a person steps on a rusty fish hook (* given in question), for example, he or she could become ill from the spores of the tetanus bacteria. The bacteria produce a substance that is toxic to the central nervous system. Because the spores cannot germinate and the bacteria cannot live when there is a high level of oxygen, wounds that do not have a good blood supply or are not exposed to air are more likely to lead to tetanus.Reason for administering the Tetanus injection:
-Help neutralize the poison that has entered the nervous system
